The Future2 team was thrilled to recently hear news from 2018/19 grant recipient, HoMie.

HoMie is a streetwear clothing social enterprise that uses 100% of its profits to provide brand-new clothing, training and job opportunities to young people affected by homelessness or hardship.

HoMie shared the story of Abi, one of their young interns who graduated from the program in July 2019.  Reflecting on her experience Abi said, “I’ve never worked in a place where I feel like a human, like a real human, not just a robot…which is what I find so precious, I can’t find anywhere else where a manager will let me step in their shoes and be like ‘try it out’.  And it makes me think, maybe I can go for a managing role…”

Since sharing this experience, Abi has gone on to find meaningful employment as a florist.

Thanks Abi and HoMie for sharing this story and a special thank you to FPA member Julian Place CFP® for nominating HoMie for a Future2 grant.

We love to hear from grant recipients past and present.  If you have a story to share, please send it to us info@future2foundation.com.au
